A Little About This CyberHome Resident

Typical in suburban Washington, DC, so why should this be any different? :-)

Bits and Bytes - You Were Warned!!
I've always been someone who has a less than easy time talking about myself, even in written form. So bear with me please ...
News Flash ...
At the end of March 1999, I become a first time homeowner by purchasing a townhouse (circa 1988) in Centreville, VA. Once I found the place I wanted to call home, things moved fast and furious in order to secure the deal ... but everything came into place. I am happy to recommend my buying agent to anyone who is looking to purchase ... e-mail me for details.
The Basics ...
I came into this world on 23 September 1965 and am still single after 30-plus years of existence. Having grown up as a military dependent ("Navy brat"), I lived in a few places. Most notably: Newport, RI, Athens, GA, and Subic Bay, The Philippines, before we moved to the metro Washington area in 1978. With the exception of the four years of college at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, I have lived in Northern Virginia and can safely call myself a native Washingtonian (kinda scary, yes?).
Centreville, VA, is where I call home ... some 20 miles west of downtown Washington, this area was often views as "the boonies". Major road construction to Interstate 66, US-29 and State Route 28 resulting from increased residential traffic and corporations (in nearby Chantilly) as well as being just a few miles south of Dulles International Airport have made Centreville less "distant". But there are some that still call it "the boonies" ...
Picture? Gosh, talk about torture! OK, OK, here 'ya go taken at the ABC National Tournament in April 2000 at Albuquerque, NM ... like I said, you can't say I didn't warn 'ya! Besides what you can see, I stand 5'7" and I weigh ... well, let's just say my fitness center membership card gathered a little dust.
By Day ...
It should come as no surprise that I work with computers for a living. Currently, I work for DynCorp Information Systems. at their Washington Technology Park facility in Chantilly, VA. This is my second stint with them ... previously, I worked for them six years through 1994. It was Contel that hired me in 1988, they were acquired by GTE in 1991. After three and a half years that saw me work for three other companies, the timing was good to make a return.
When I'm Not at Work ...
If you came in from the main page, that has answered itself ... I am heavily involved in the sport of bowling. Not only in participation but also as a league secretary and a youth league director and coach.
The winter season, which runs from Labor Day through mid-May, I am secretary of Mixed Signals Bowling, a 22-team mixed league in Chantilly that has been on the internet since the 1995-1996 season; and, Travel Scratch Trios which is a scratch league that alternates weeks at Chantilly and Dranesville. Additionally, I participate in a third league in nearby Manassas.
Also during the winter season, I am a youth league coach and activities coordinator at Bowl America Chantilly for which we have over 100 youths each Saturday morning.
During the summer season, I am secretary of Smokeless Rollers and Chantilly Scratch Trios.
... But That's Not the Only Thing
It should also go without saying that I enjoy computers at home ... otherwise, I would not have this cyberhome built. I also enjoy good movies ... those involving time travel, mystery and action are great. Since I am not at home much to become a television junkie, I tend to find one show to follow with interest. While it was a great show, Murder One (on ABC) had the uncanny luck of being put in TV's "death slot": Thursday night.
Staying in the same genre, Law & Order became that show, especially during my period of convalesence at home following an ankle fracture in August 1997. There are several sites for the show and I will soon have a page with links to episode guides and other resources.
Children ...
No, no ... I don't have any human offspring. However, there are four wonderful feline boys at home. I will be working on a separate page for them on which I hope to include a few pictures.
Being Single ...
Like anything else, it has advantages and disadvantages. I do hope to meet that special someone ... I know she is out there, perhaps looking at this page right now? I can always be hopeful ... :-)
