Welcome ... as a "father" to four feline boys, it pains me to see just how many homeless animals exist, not only in metro Washington but in the country and world. Sadder still is that many of them do not get homes and must be put down because there is simply not enough space for them in the shelters. Yes, there is a commitment when it comes to owning a pet ... but the improved quality of life is well worth any time and financial endeavours encountered.

What follows are links to local area adoption agencies and shelters. This is just the start of a long list of adoption sites in the metro DC area, mid-Atlantic region and across the country.

Take some time to view these sites and open your heart to adopting a cat or a dog.

What you give to an animal in love and shelter will be returned many times over in companionship. If, for whatever reason, you cannot adopt an animal, please consider helping these shelters and facilities so that the animals that remain can do so for longer periods of time.
